Food Groups

Food Groups. The Guidelines present three USDA Food Patterns with recommended amounts for how much you should consume from each food. Not many other foods in our diet contain.

Materials list, set-up instructions, and evaluation guide are included. A food group is a collection of foods that share similar nutritional properties or biological classifications. Introduce your students to a lab that evaluates students' ability to use data and charts to find foods that meet daily requirements.

The food grouping was meant to reflect the role of foods in the diet and to be intuitively understood by non-specialist users.
